How to Vizualize a Perfect Performance
Many people, including myself, can become self-conscious (stage fright) when performing in the studio. Even easy passages from songs that you performed when alone become combersome at best. One of my favorite techniques to overcome this is to simply visualize in your minds eye your fingers (I play guitair and bass) landing on the right notes effortlessly and accurately. I know where my fingers should be going so I just picture them landing perfectly on those strings. This works for all instruments including voice. Try this next time your recording in the studio, it works for me and my clients and it can work for you too.

Everything starts with the instrument!

While high-quality microphones, preamps, sample rates, room acoustics, proper placement, and a clear understanding of the instrument's purpose in the track are important, none are as crucial as the quality of the instrument itself. Is your guitar properly intonated? When was the last time you changed the strings? What about your drum kit? Fresh drumheads and a well-maintained, tuned kit are essential for a great recording. As a producer, our studio offers clients a wide variety of high-end instruments to inspire creativity and help capture the essence of the track!
